Let's take action for our territory

1st Agora: Adapting to rising sea levels and marine submersion.
May – June 2026

The Climate Agora is a citizens' assembly organized within the framework of the LIFE Maraisilience project, to build together proposals for adaptation to climate change.

It brings together residents, elected officials and socio-economic stakeholders in the project area.

Your experience and ideas matter!

Registration for the first Agora closed on May 12th.

The Agora is composed of 2 parts:

  • Saturday, May 30 OR Saturday, June 6 (full day, date of your choice; 8:30 am – 18:30 pm):
    Field dayOutdoors, to (re)discover the Marais Poitevin through its diverse landscapes, visualize and understand its challenges. Transportation will be provided by coach from various meeting points.
  • Friday, June 26 (15:00 PM – 21:30 PM) and Saturday, June 27 (9:30 AM – 17:00 PM), in Luçon:
    Exchanges and workshops to co-construct adaptation solutions for the territory (knowledge of the issues, identification of risks, proposal and prioritization of adaptation actions).

Organised public transport for each day from several departure points (See the map of meeting points) / Meals provided.
Childcare costs for children under 16 or for people needing assistance may be covered for residents participating in the Agora, subject to providing the certificate and supporting documents requested.

Why this Climate Agora?

Climate change exposes the territory to Increasingly frequent and intense hazards floods, droughts, submersion, heat waves…

The first Climate Agora will focus on the issue of...adaptation to rising sea levels and marine submersion.

The objectives of the Agora are:

  • Discover and understand the local issues related to climate change.
  • Bringing together perspectives from residents, socio-economic actors and elected officials.
  • To generate proposals for adapting to the territory in 2050.

Who can participate?

This event is open to everyone. adult inhabitants of the territory: Marais Poitevin Regional Natural Park, La Rochelle Agglomeration Community, Niort Agglomeration Community, Aunis Atlantique Community of Communes, Pays de Fontenay-Vendée Community of Communes, Sud Vendée Littoral Community of Communes, Vendée Grand Littoral Community of Communes, Joint Syndicate of the Sèvre Niortaise Watershed.

Registration for the first Agora closed on May 12th.

Those who have participated in an Agora will be able to register for the next Agora as a priority if they wish.

Proposals for adapting to climate change

At the end of the entire process, the proposals from the Climate Agora will be published. They will be accessible online and presented to local authorities, who will be invited to use them to inform their action plans.

This Climate Agora is organised by the communities of communes Sud Vendée Littoral and Vendée Grand Littoral, as well as the Marais poitevin Regional Natural Park.
The Agoras are facilitated by Auxilia, a consulting firm specializing in ecological transition.
